Looking for a fresh 5000s motherboard with a full mid tower case. System specs include a Panteks P400A, Ryzen 5600X, MSI B550 A Pro/broken graphics card, 16GB RAM, Infinity Edge 2TB SSD, and an Antec HCG 650W PSU. The BIOS was updated and the system now boots barebones but not with the CPU. I can install it at Microcenter if needed. Ready to upgrade my rig!
MSI handles BIOS restoration well. No software installation is required on the board during the flash process. It’s best to attempt recovery before purchasing a new motherboard.
I wouldn't rely on MSI for any setup, especially with a Ryzen 5000. The board deserves quality components, particularly strong VRM cooling for that kind of processor. You don't have to go for an X570, but a better option would be a higher-end B550 like the Asus TUF B550-PLUS I used for my 5900X. In short, my issues began when my old setup’s MSI B450M Bazooka stopped working instead of adapting to a different GPU. I had to file an RMA, and the board seemed anxious afterward. Later, MSI confirmed support for the 5900X after a BIOS update, which I installed. However, they warned it could damage my board if the update wasn’t done correctly. Because of this, I waited six months on an untested processor while I planned and researched a new build. I won’t buy from MSI again, nor would I suggest them to others. I went with an Asus board and GPU for my latest project, which performed well and even exceeded Cinebench R23 expectations.

I never claimed it was true. What I stated was that a Ryzen 5000 required strong VRM cooling, and a B550 would suffice, while the X570 was unnecessary. I also noted that a more advanced B550 would be better, since cheaper B550s offer limited or none at all in VRM performance. A B450 might work for the Ryzen 5000 but would likely struggle with long-term heat. Once I cleared up some naming issues, I wouldn't rely on MSI parts again. Edited May 14, 2022 by An0maly_76
You don't have to invest heavily in an expensive B550 board since a more affordable option like the B550-A PRO is sufficient. B450 boards can also handle 5000-series performance if the design allows proper airflow. The B550-A PRO was demonstrated in the video, successfully running a 3950X without issues.
