Looking for affordable and discreet RAM options?
Hey, I'm trying to replace my RAM because mine broke and I don't want to risk it. One slot still works fine, so I'm not worried about staying with it. I'm aiming for something discreet, around $50 to $80. Right now I'm considering Team Elite Vulcan TUF 16GB, 2x8GB, 3200MHz DDR4 CL18 and Team Elite Vulcan TUF 16GB, 2x8GB, 3000MHz DDR4 CL16. If I can find something similar in my country (Philippines), that'd be great. Corsair Vengeance LPX is a bit too expensive locally—maybe up to $120 for a 3200MHz two sticks. I'm thinking of keeping the look simple. My cooler already has space for two slots, unless I shift the fan. It's about 34mm clearance. I'm also eyeing Trident Royal Z (3000MHz, 16GB, 8x2) for around $80. Edit: Also, what do you think about this setup? Using the first and second slots for low-profile RAM, third and fourth for Trident Royal both at the same speed. Keeps dual channel but makes the design look better since those last two slots aren't covered by the cooler. Just my RYZEN 5 3600 in mind.
Umm.. Ok? I’m not seeing a question here. This seems more like a general announcement.
Speed of 2933 is acceptable. Occasionally you can locate HyperX Fury 2x4GB bundles for $50, though they offer only 8 gigabytes—not 16. 8GB suffices for gaming when background apps are closed. These items are usually in stock more recently in the US, but it's worth verifying availability in your area.
If it really matters, consider swapping the fan. If not, switch to a higher-quality fan focused on pressure instead of airflow—something capable of moving air through the heatsink. Noctua tends to be costly and brown, but these options are more affordable. You can find them cheaply online at https://noctua.at/en/nf-p12-redux-1700-pwm. They’re perfect for your needs, letting you use whatever RAM you prefer instead of dealing with limited stock or expensive kits. If you change the fan, I strongly suggest this budget RAM for Ryzen 3000—it’s a great deal and worth around $70 locally if they’re not overpriced.
