Consider MSI MAG Z790 Tomahawk WiFi and Gigabyte Z790 AORUS ELITE X for your build. Both fit your budget of around $25k with the components you listed. Think about performance needs and whether one board offers better value or features for your gaming setup.

You can upgrade your BIOS and use a sufficiently large case with the Z690 Ace. It offers nearly all the features you might need and costs around $230 US. The main drawbacks are limited memory overclocking potential (still likely to reach 7200 if your CPU supports it) and the fact that the latest BIOS updates for the 14th generation are not very good, though a 13th Gen BIOS should work fine on your 14600K. If you must choose between these two, the Elite X provides a better overall experience.

Discussing the reasoning clearly: the suggestion came because I was firm about the Z790 board, while Discord highlighted these two options instead.

The Z790 Aorus Elite X serves as the refresh board and comes with a BIOS built for 14th generation processors. It features a more powerful VRM setup, an eight-layer PCB design (which could help with future upgrades to higher clock speeds), and what seems to be the superior memory layout among 4 DIMM LGA 1700 boards—likely making faster memory options more viable. In terms of specs, it matches most motherboards closely, with only small trade-offs (the Tomahawk adds an extra SATA port, while the Elite X includes an additional rear USB port).

It seems the winner is Giga Board, which I’ve used before. I’m hoping I won’t have a bad experience with it. Would you invest your money in it if you were me? I’m considering these options to future-proof and put more money into my PC. The 4070 looks promising for longevity, along with the 14600K.

Gigabyte boards work well for this setup, and their selections offer good value compared to other options available.

The Z790 offers more options compared to the B760, especially in terms of PCIe versions, bandwidth, and lane configurations. The B760 is essentially a reduced version of the Z790 with fewer features.

I’d likely opt for Z690 to cut costs (like the Z690 PG Velocita), especially given how affordable high-end Z690 boards have become. If I chose a Z790, I’d weigh it against the Z790 Riptide—it’s quite similar to the Elite X but slightly cheaper overall. The decision would hinge on price and look. Right now, the Riptide is a more budget-friendly option, though I wouldn’t discourage someone from picking the Elite X. The only B760 I’d think about is the B760M PG Riptide, as it’s one of the few B760 models that can overclock while staying reasonably cheap. I’d go for a Z790 if I could, but if your budget is tight, the Riptide makes sense.
