Looking for a Z390 motherboard?
About four months ago I purchased a GIGABYTE Z390 UD, an i7-9700K processor, and 2x8GB RAM with 3200MHz. At first, I heard buzzing near the CPU socket and around the IO area whenever I moved my mouse. Initially I thought it was just my imagination, but soon the same sound appeared on my speakers and headphones too—especially when they were connected to the back of the motherboard. When I plugged them in from the front, it stopped. However, the buzzing persisted on the board itself. I took it to RMA, and they replaced it with a new unit immediately. The issue continued, so I tried other CPUs, different power supplies, and even switched outlets. Once I got the replacement, they installed a temporary model (ASUS Z390 Prime-P) but the buzzing still occurred, though it was barely noticeable once the case was closed. At the store, they suggested I could swap it for another part, possibly paying an extra 50 dollars. I’m considering alternatives like the Gigabyte Z390 Aorus Elite or the MSI MAG Z390 Tomahawk. For the MSI model, I couldn’t find any details about power phases or VRM. I was hoping to get some advice from the community—my estimate is around $150 extra on top of what I already spent. The ASUS ROG Strix Z390-H and Z390 TUF-H are currently on sale for $200, but I suspect they might be misleading about power phases or VRM specs. Thanks!
