if you discover a wired controller you like, you can connect a USB extension to the included wired cable.
there are numerous extension cables designed to prevent them from slipping out because they have a secure attachment that holds the cable heads together.
you might also consider using a USB hub that provides its own extended cable and simply plug the gamepad into it.
if you're comfortable enough with your gamepads, you could even remove the built-in cable from the PC's USB ports by pulling it out.
i suspect you wouldn't find a quality gamepad with such a long cable included.
wouldn't it be better to opt for a reliable wireless version instead?

An extension? That's a solid idea. Thanks.
My issue is setting up a PS4 controller on my PC. It shows I'm connected via Bluetooth, but when I launch Steam, I can't play anything until I plug the cable into the remote. The cable keeps slipping out, and I don't want to damage the port on the controller since I still use it with my PS4.

i haven't found any controllers with a connected cable at all, and i checked thoroughly. believe me, i searched. an extender seems to be the best option if you manage to locate one with a built-in cable.

It seems you're looking for alternative software adapters for PS2 emu, specifically for PS3, to achieve desired mapping. Check the emu forums for more details. Regarding 'extensions', a 12-meter cable won't work for fast USB2.x and 3.x connections; instead, you'd need active signal relays with chips placed at intervals of 1.5 to 2 meters. Optical solutions might be effective? PD is available. Ordering ten would cost around $150, and you should consider the tariffs involved.

This:
"The cable tends to come out frequently and I don't wish to damage the port on the controller, since I still rely on it with my PS4."
How or when does that occur?
Besides "slips out too often" that seems to be effective? Correct?
There might be methods to create a strain relief that keeps the cable secure without needing to take it out and reinstall.
Sharing a few pictures of the cable connection problems would help. Send them here via imgur (www.imgur.com).
There could be more ideas and suggestions provided.
Just a brief note...

I was thinking about these options.
These links are what I saw online.
I can’t buy ten of them, but I’ll keep an eye out for something similar.
Thanks.
It occurs when I hand the controller to my wife or when I pause a game and set it down before picking it back up. It also happens during play, occasionally. We’re not being too extreme—our latest game is Stardew Valley, which isn’t very demanding on the controller.
The controller functions properly on the PC after I plug it in again. It also works wirelessly on the PS4.
These are pictures of a PS4 controller. They aren’t my own, just to give you an idea.

I would begin by securing a small rubber band to hold the cable plug firmly in the controller.
Test the adjustment and find the optimal tightness.
Also, compare the cable's plug (controller side) with other matching or similar plugs.
It seems the controller plug might be slightly compressed or misshapen, while the controller port could be faulty or misaligned.
How loose is the link into the controller?

Everyone was really helpful and I gained some knowledge.
Thanks.
I almost triggered the trigger on a new controller, but I managed to make my PS4 controller work wirelessly on Steam. Perhaps in the future I’ll consider upgrading my controller.
