there are 12 pci lanes available when required. the wifi antenna on your pc has a broken wire, causing slow speeds. i fixed it with electrical tape, but the issue returned. your system needs a receiver that fits inside the pc rather than an external asrock antenna, which could fail if moved. wifi stops working completely without the tape.

I bought an Asus PCE-AC68 802.11ac on eBay for $22 USD last month. It performs well and is very fast. Just look on eBay and sort by price.

I'm a bit puzzled. The item is just an antenna bracket. I noticed there are two small slots for antenna connectors, but I wasn't aware USB ones were available. Good?

Hi @Snowarch, sorry, I got the message wrong. The UBS adapter you mentioned should work, but it depends on the specific chipset in your device. My past attempts with generic USB WiFi adapters have been inconsistent. Most of them came out of the box, but their performance varied, and it’s uncommon to reach the advertised speeds. Stability is another issue with these types of adapters. So yes, the WiFi stick might function, but results could differ. Better options include the ones listed below:

- TP-Link Archer T2U
- TP-Link Archer T2U Plus
- TP-Link Archer T4U V3
- Trendnet TEW-805UB
- Linksys Dual-Band AC1200
- Netgear Nighthawk AC1900

If you’re looking for a reliable pick, these are among the top recommendations.

I chose a TP-Link 1200 and am puzzled. The speed test showed an increase from 29 to 41 Mbps, yet Steam slowed down from 4-6 Mbps. What’s happening?
