But why this version? Why not XP? Or even better, 7/8/10? You don’t have to test it on an old machine. It should run perfectly on the Windows 7 profile on your computer. There must be a specific reason you’re using a device from 17 years ago to play this? That wouldn’t feel good given the modern setup you have.

The rig performs smoothly as if it ran on an SSD, even with only a recent WD800BB update. It features two Voodoo2 units in SLI for games like Diablo II, and older graphics card drivers work better under Windows 9x than XP. The machine’s specs (which handle WCIII adequately): Intel Pentium III 1000EB, 1GB RAM, 80GB storage, 7200RPM HDD, Nvidia Riva TNT2 Vanta 16MB with a 25MHz core clock, boosted to 150MHz core and 150MHz memory. It also includes two 12MB Voodoo2 Creative SoundBlaster Live Value Intel Pro/100B NICs, a Jetway 994AN-L 1 and socket 370 CPU (with a recently replaced capacitor), plus a FDD, a 2004 CD recorder, and a 2004 DVD recorder. Building it right with an OS of comparable age ensures flawless operation.
