I think @Real pigowl explained that idea in his meme earlier. There are actually good intel CPUs available. The issue is they’re extremely expensive.

Here, “the most sense” refers to the tiniest yet still decent amount of nonsense. “Most” is a relative idea. Only a few or maybe two intel CPUs fit the bill in the $500 range. Everything else falls short. There was a chance intel might change its mind and make a move. What actually happened is they doubled down and forced the other one in. Even Apple seems to be considering dumping intel, though they don’t really have a strong CPU for it. It’s really bad.

With the $220 budget and the OP's decision not to go AMD, it seems like the most sensible option. However, this isn't something I'd suggest in my opinion.
