Yes, you can simply reflash a compatible recovery if you encounter an incompatible one.

This doesn't work well. CWM functions properly and is available for download from the app store.

Avoid this option; it doesn't function properly. Check the Clockwork Mod instead.

I’m only seeking a custom recovery because I want to root with supersu. Is a regular recovery really necessary for that?
