Hello, I'm checking if the NETGEAR CM600 and R6700 can work together smoothly. I'm expecting around 150 Mbps download speed. I'm considering the CM600 as a cable modem and the R6700 as a smart WiFi router. Are there any performance issues or compatibility problems between them? Will they remain reliable over time? For gaming and multiple users, will this setup handle the load? Regarding latency and ping, it's mainly about the connection quality rather than the devices themselves. Thanks for your assistance!
I own Xfinity and this speed category. The CM600 is a recommended upgrade along with the SB6183. For routers, I’m not familiar with Netgear though I’ve heard they perform well. Concerning durability, I’m using an SB6141 for my modem. The only time I’d need to swap it is if Xfinity offers a free speed increase again. Currently, my modem only handles 200 Mbps on their network. My previous router lasted around five years. In terms of modems, it really depends on choosing the desired maximum speed. That’s the main consideration. For instance, if you think you might eventually reach Gigabit speeds, investing in a Docsis 3.1 model makes sense. But if you believe 150 Mbps will suffice for your needs, the suggested modem is sufficient. As a 24x8 unit, it should comfortably support most current mid-range speeds.
