Not widely available in the US. Especially the answering machine, as voice mail largely eliminated it in the country. The main concern is that most routers you’ll find lack these capabilities. When purchasing another gateway, ensure it’s compatible with your internet type. Modem components generally don’t support every internet service. Typically you have DSL/VDSL modems, cable modems (DOCSIS 3.0/3.1), and fiber—though fiber doesn’t require a modem, you usually get a media converter or router instead, with various fiber types available. First determine your current ISP internet type and the new one; this also applies to phone service. Comcast’s digital voice for instant is similar to VoIP, allowing phones to connect directly to the modem/gateway. I’ve seen VoIP setups that plug into the router or use a device between router and modem. The method varies, but understanding your internet kind helps clarify your needs.

Atm uses copper-based VDSL offering 30 megabits. The upcoming service will lay new fiber to your home (FTTH) and set up an ONT, delivering up to 300 megabits.

This ensures we focus on suitable options. Any router should be fine, though VoIP can be tricky to locate. My router supports VoIP features, but it’s primarily for QoS management. It doesn’t have an RJ11 port, which is a downside. Brands like ASUS and Netgear are reliable choices. For more customization, Ubiquti is a good option. Personally, I use a Synology router and it has performed very well.
