I'm searching for a white Z490 chipset board compatible with an i7 10700k. I need at least seven USB rear ports and prefer the ASUS Prime-Z490-A. If you have any better options in that budget, let me know! Thanks!

The main options I recall are Asrock's Steel Legend and Gigabyte's similar-priced white board. Strix Z490-A is also mentioned, priced higher by $20 and includes BIOS Flashback.

You could definitely replace the motherboard or opt for numerous white LEDs. White motherboards are uncommon. The last Intel model I recall was the Z390 from nzxt, which was quite costly.

The ROG Strix Z490-A Gaming looks good on the motherboard, the big Noctua cooler and Strix 2070 will handle it well, but I don’t want it to be completely black.

I still prefer Intel over AMD. Back when I was starting out, I had a 6700k, upgraded it and pushed it to 4.8ghz. I really enjoyed it, and in 2015 I thought it was a solid choice. When deciding between the 10700k and the 3900x, I went with the latter. More cores, more threads—definitely better in multithreaded tasks. In single-threaded work it performs just as well as Intel. Short version, don’t stick too closely to one brand. Pick what works best for you.
