I haven’t faced any issues with USB Ethernet adapters, except for my first model which was USB 2.0—so it was naturally constrained. Just avoid the cheapest options and you should be okay. I’m currently using a Plugable 2.5G USB C/3.0 adapter consistently without any problems.
In addition to Belkin, Anker, and TP-Link products, I've been utilizing Sabrent Ethernet-USB adapters. The 2.5Gbps models offer advantages over 1Gbps options since they provide longer durability and better construction (metal casing for heat management). Regarding 5Gbps adapters, they require USB specifications exceeding 5Gbps due to increased overhead. If operating solely on a 5Gbps connection, performance typically limits itself around 3.5Gbps.
