Consider a high-capacity Wi-Fi router designed for heavy usage. Your existing Asus RT-AC86U is nearing its limits, especially with all the smart devices you’re connecting. The Rapture GT-AXE11000 looks promising but at $550 it’s quite expensive. Since you’ll likely keep using your current setup and plan to extend it later, look for a model that supports many simultaneous connections without lag.

Deploy OPNsense inside a virtual machine on your server. Using bare metal gives the best performance, but a VM works well if you manage it properly.

This would be ideal if it's restocked during the current fiscal year. https://store.ui.com/collections/unifi-n...am-machine

Think about using Ethernet for any fixed device like your desktop smart TV or game console. It reduces the load on your router's Wi-Fi. Check for Wi-Fi signals with a mobile app and pick the channel with the fewest disruptions. Prefer the 5GHz band whenever possible.

The issue lies in the nature of the devices. Since they are IoT gadgets, they typically operate at low bandwidth and often run on the 2.4GHz frequency band.
