Looking for a PCIe x1 Ethernet card supporting up to 500Mbps?
If you're using an older motherboard that prefers Windows 7, look for a PCIe x1 Ethernet card that supports modern systems but works with Windows 10 or 11. A single-port option should suffice.
Currently, almost every brand and their dog models come with a gigabit PCIe card that’s been built-in for some time. Are you certain your motherboard already has a gigabit port? For advice, look up any manufacturer using Intel or Aquantia chipsets on their specifications. The level of compatibility is truly impressive, even across different architectures.
Thank you for your reply. Your old motherboard does have a gigabit port, but it keeps disconnecting even after updating the drivers. This issue only appears on Windows 10, not on Windows 7. I switched from Windows 7 to 10 and the internet would drop until the computer restarted, then everything worked again. Other devices are unaffected by this problem with the internet or router. I've tried a network reset, but it didn't help. I'm planning to install a new Ethernet card and see if the driver supports Windows 10.
