Purchased a new home in Malaysia and am currently updating it. I need strong Wi-Fi throughout the property and have heard recommendations to set up my own router instead of using the built-in one. Two extenders are needed, ideally working together as a mesh network without manual reconfiguration. I’m looking for a mid-to-high range device that’s user-friendly and well-documented.

There are various mesh Wi-Fi options available, and you won’t need separate routers to achieve coverage. You can find extensions that help maintain connections while moving around. Some recommended brands have clear explanations on their websites about how mesh networking functions. (These are not all the brands I’m aware of.)

I don’t personally use mesh networking since my home is too small for it to be necessary.

I would install Ethernet inside the walls to eliminate the need for a wireless mesh network between devices.

We are updating the Ethernet cables from cat5 to cat6, ensuring every room has Ethernet ports. Wi-Fi will primarily support mobile devices. We’re also considering using Wireless VR (quest) within the same room as the router (optional).
