I’m being quite direct about the situation. My ASUS ROG X570 Crosshair VIII Hero’s USB port failed, and after sending it in for repairs, ASUS is insisting on physical damage, voiding the warranty, and performing costly fixes instead of a replacement board. It’s understandable how frustrating this must feel. I’m hoping to find an alternative from another brand that matches these specifications. Please share your options here, as unless ASUS respects the warranty, they might be able to keep the part!

This Msi b550 tomahawk offers solid performance without breaking the bank. It works flawlessly with any Am4 CPU. If you're looking to resell it, it's in good shape—just a simple USB connection means everything is fine.

First, consider whether all those USB ports are necessary. If one fails, you still have around twelve ports left. It might actually be more cost-effective to purchase a USB expansion rather than buying a new motherboard entirely. Regarding other boards with similar capabilities, choices are limited. MSI offers the Godlike line, Gigabyte has the Aorus Master, and ASRock provides the Taichi series along with some Aqua models (though finding one may be tough). Personally, I prefer the ASRock X570 Taichi—it delivers all the features I need and more. Its BIOS is notably user-friendly among major brands, and it only has eight USB ports on the back, making a downgrade less appealing even if you replace the dead port. EVGA’s X570 Dark is pricier than some used vehicles. ASUS is known for producing lower-quality boards, but unless there are other issues beyond the USB ports, sticking with your current board is sensible. Fixing a USB port should likely cost under $300, so if quoted otherwise, you might find a more affordable repair option elsewhere. If the price drops below that, let us know what you’re willing to spend, since matching specs aren’t guaranteed and priorities vary. You probably won’t need the B550 Tomahawk unless you have specific requirements; otherwise, we’re happy to assist with alternatives.

I experienced a DOA on an ASUS ROG X570 Crosshair VIII Hero, which was on back order. I switched to an Aorus Master and it functioned perfectly. I’m moving away from ASUS because most of their boards either fail or have big problems. All the new ones I’ve tried are Heroes and come at a higher cost.

I need to sort this out. A USB port on the back failed, and it messed up the pins on the front 3.0 ports. I’m curious about any further harm they may have caused.

They aim for more than $800 to fix the board. I’ve considered S&H, which I already paid $80, and I’m thinking around $900. A replacement board of similar quality is about $450, possibly $500 including taxes. I’m not interested in getting the board again because if something fails, it could damage other parts too.
