Hello, I'm looking into the Gigabyte Z390 M GAMING LGA 1151 mATX board. It includes an 8 + 4 CPU power header. My PSU only has an 8-pin connector, but I need the extra 4-pin for the MOBO to function. The manual doesn't clarify whether this is necessary. Thanks!

The additional four-pin connection is mostly not required and often provides little benefit.

For a powerful CPU, you’ll likely require that power adapter.

Unless you're attempting LN2 overclocking, it's very improbable.

For LN2 overclocking, dual 8-pin connectors are usually preferred instead of 8+4 pins.

Only for a 9600K with a simple overclock.
