Looking for a motherboard compatible with the 5800X?
The main real-world difference lies in the physical design—MSI Tomahawk includes a header for USB-C, while the Asus Strix does not.
They are both very solid. Choose what you like best. I usually prefer tomahawk boards, but that Asus is perfectly okay!
It should be fine, but you might encounter some challenges due to the large radiators.
I am facing the same choice as the OP, except a month later. Here a shopping cart of my local "Micro center" with prices of all the motherboard models mentioned above. Top right corner switches the website to English. I have also attached an image of the shopping cart. For reference, 5800x costs 360 EUR. https://www.dateks.lv/grozs?content=bc87...t9tQ6wc%3D Which motherboard model would you recommend, given the prices shown? I do not plan to use more than 1 GPU. I want a fast 1/2 TB PCIe 4.0 NVMe boot drive for OS, games, and maybe IDE. But for cold storage I don't mind using PCIe 3.0 m.2 or even SATA. A single USB-C port is a nice-to-have, but not a must for me. I am willing to pay and extra 20 EUR for it. I would rather have WiFi/Bluetooth built in than use an expansion card to keep the build cleaner. Bluetooth for gaming controllers and WiFi for an occasional LAN party. I really appreciate the time and effort you've already put into this post!
