You can always review the AMD motherboard tier list. I use a B550 with my Ryzen 5600x and an MSI Tomahawk, and it works just fine for my needs.
Check all b550 models and their costs. The X570 isn't practical for more than one Gen4 NVMe drive or dual GPUs; it's mainly useful for systems with a solid board emphasizing I/O. Prioritize boards with plenty of ports and avoid focusing on flashy VRM specs or overclocking features.
Well, it really comes down to that. Most folks don’t need the added perks of the X570, and there are plenty of decent B550 boards that perform better than cheap X570 options. Did you focus only on the X570? Remember, B550 launched about a year after X570, so there was a whole bunch of affordable X570 boards that spread quickly—probably because PCIe 4.0 was the only option, which isn’t really worth buying anymore.
The Strix-F gets a plus one for being a great board. I really enjoyed it and ended up buying two of them.
Gigabyte offers several options under 200 watts, including the B550 AORUS Pro, AORUS Elite, and others. MSI has models like the B550 MPG Gaming Carbon WiFi and B550 Pro AMD AM4 ATX. ASUS provides the B550-PLUS TUF Gaming and B550-A ROG Strix. Tomahawk and MAG have their own AORUS series boards. All listed boards meet the 200W limit. I believe the X570 model stands out for a specific reason.
The two Gigabyte models at the top of your list are nearly identical except for the AC model featuring Wi-Fi. The Asus Strix B550-F and B550-A at the end are essentially the same board but in different finishes. I don’t have a strong reason to completely steer clear of them, though I’m slightly biased toward Gigabyte products. The MSI B550-A Pro seems to offer the best value for money (assuming current pricing), but if all options are under $200, choosing based on appearance makes sense. Compare the input/output specifications to confirm your case and accessories will fit properly. The X570 is preferable for multiple PCIe 4.0 drives or several GPUs, though most users won’t need that. Some budget X570 boards from that era are noticeably inferior to solid B550 models.
