They stay below 80°C and their highest temperatures are around 105°C. Just check a YouTube video for more details.

while reviewing the hardware unboxing video, temperatures hit 120°C using the 2700x with OC.

The reference appears to be a bit off, as it exceeds the maximum temperature rating for any standard military-grade VRM.

military grade is merely branding. it doesn't signify anything. he's probably checking the B450 Aorus Pro Wi-Fi, which shares the same VMRS, but offers superior cooling compared to the D3SH.

The 3700X draws only slightly more current than a 3600, and I really think you wouldn't run into issues if you tried fitting it into a DS3H. Plus, most systems already have some airflow inside the case, which should help with cooling. The 2700X is closer in power consumption to a 3900X than it is to a 3700X or a 3600, and discussing voltage regulation on boards like the DS3H is actually pretty meaningless. An 8+2 phase VRM doesn’t add much value. You could use eight mediocre MOSFETs on the Vcore, or sixteen solid power stages, and on paper it might still be an 8-phase setup, but in practice they’d be almost identical. That’s not very insightful. Gaming isn’t especially demanding of the CPU overall, let alone at 4K resolution. What does “military grade VRM” really imply?

I wouldn't sacrifice a high-end CPU for a cheap motherboard priced under sixty dollars. Even with decent case cooling, it wouldn't work well. I still wouldn't go that route.

I understand your concern, but focusing on $400+ CPUs isn't necessary since the question is about a board for a Ryzen 3100.

Is this the currency you’re referring to? Or is it something different that gets converted? When mentioning some boards, the B450M Pro VDH max, B450 Pro4 (ATX or MUX or Pro 4-F), and B450 A Pro Max are all decent options, typically around $90 to $100. What? Zen 2 uses less power, but that doesn’t mean the VRM performance drops significantly. What? No, it can still manage a 3700x well. That’s not very informative. In more detail, it features a 4-phase design with four 4C010N and eight 4C06N components. The 2700x consumes more power than the 3700x and is closer to a 3900x in that regard. What does that imply? Also, we’re discussing a 3100 core, not a 12-core processor.
