Looking for a good web hosting service for my PHP site? Here are some top choices to consider
I am wrapping up an internship at my local Chick-fil-A right now. Here, I built a website with information about the business and tools for our new team members. Currently, I'm using WAMP on my laptop plus a university server to test things out. Once the site is done, I need a service to host it permanently so someone else can keep running it after I finish. There are lots of services that make designing easy, but I just want to upload my files for where I already have them ready. I'm looking for something reasonable in price, reliable, fast, and with good tech support because another person will be taking care of the site later on. That sounds great! Thank you so much in advance.
Here is a simpler version of your text:
This site comes with a server I use to test things at my school. You should talk to your advisor or professor about this website idea. If other interns will keep running it, it makes sense for the university to host it instead. It could be in a special place that isn't part of their normal system. Maybe your university can agree on something like: if they host and manage the site, the company gets some funding or helps with things like student stipends or computer gear. Even if you have a Business Department, they might care too. There is no reason not to think about this...
Okay so our three companies in my town are all local and run by their own people. There isn't a big IT department here though. Most of this work has been done solo, with me working together with the operator, HR folks, and media directors to create content for the website. I'm looking for some ideas on what services we could use to test things out before it's all done, plus figuring out where to host it in the future.
This: "as well as a server hosted by my university for testing purposes," has a discussion about the website with your advisor or applicable professor(s). If the website is going to be maintained by other interns then it seems sensible to have the website hosted by the university. Maybe in a test environment that is kept separate from the University's system(s). You/the university may be able to work out some agreement that in exchange for hosting and managing the website the "customer company" would sponsor the effort to some extent. E.g., some operational funds, stipends for graduate students, hardware, etc.. And if the university has a Business Department they might be interested as well. No harm in thinking about the possibilities and drafting some plan or proposal based on the details and circumstances. Very good "real world" situation where everyone could win. Just my thoughts on the matter.
