So i have a 1500ft split level house built in the 60s in the USA and I was wondering what the best thing to do was. i switched recently to cox 500mbps over cable and have just been using the modem/router combo they sent use while i try to figure out how to better network the house. There are a couple coax outlets leftover from the former cable company i used including one in the playroom downstairs which is one of the places that has kinda bad connection so i was assuming I could use MoCa to connect the coax cables from the new router to the old wiring and get an ap wired that way for downstairs. my office is where my gaming setup is at which is upstairs directly above it is another area I’d like better connection, I already get a solid 40mbps at 12ms but id like to increase it upstairs in general. there is only one coax outlet upstairs, but its in another persons bedroom to the side behind a tv so i cant really put anything there so I was wondering what my best bet would be to do, should I get a 3 pack of mesh routers setup to put one in the main room where the router is right now one upstairs and one downstairs or do you think i can get away with just getting a better router like the tp link ax3200 or 1800 / do that and setup extenders with their “one mesh” or whatever they call it or is there another option? Also, I tried out power-line and it increased the speed in the office to 80 but kept the same ping but I’m thinking ill just return it since it didn’t bring that much uplift for the problems i might have. Thanks peeps! ps: whichever option i should choose can i have some specific product recommendations? I dont want to spend too much like keep it under 200 and want to take advantage of black friday pps: I need good speeds and low latency and wifi 6 because im gonna be doing wireless VR via quest 2 from my pc and virtual desktop/air link which ive heard needs good speeds

I didn’t have a positive experience with the TP LINK repeaters. Configuring them was difficult, and after connecting one to a network, linking an older model to a new setup became nearly impossible.

Mesh could be a good choice, but it depends on your needs. Have you considered other brands?

I don’t have deep knowledge of mesh networks, but my only background is setting up Netgear routers, which were very straightforward to configure and operate.
