You need to upgrade your motherboard. You currently have a 4090 with 96GB RAM, two RAM sticks, and a 14900K processor. You're considering new boards with Wi-Fi 7 support from brands like MSI, Asus, and Gigabyte. The GIGABYTE Z790 AORUS XTREME X looks promising and has dropped in price to around $999. MSI also offers a version, though it's pricier.
The Aorus Xtreme X offers capabilities beyond what budget boards provide, such as superior build quality, enhanced thermal management, and more advanced connectivity options. Its design prioritizes performance and reliability, addressing limitations found in cheaper alternatives.
Consider allocating the remaining $700 for a Wi-Fi 7 compatible router, like the one listed at https://www.microcenter.com/product/6700...sh-support
I didn't need financial guidance. I'm fine with a more affordable option that still offers solid overclocking and fast RAM support. Price isn't my main concern—quality matters most. Occasionally, the top choice isn't the priciest. I don’t require a router; I already have the necessary setup. Mostly I go hardwired, but having Wi-Fi 7 is a plus since I’m planning an upgrade. Do you have any high-end recommendations? I’ve checked out the APEX ENCORE, which handles memory well at 8000, but it lacks Thunderbolt. I prefer boards with many USB ports so I don’t need a hub. I’m used to Asus’s BIOS and hardware, but I’m open to alternatives. The Gigabyte Xtreme X board has a nice display, though that’s the only standout feature. Overall, I appreciate all the other advantages this board provides.
I've assembled numerous computers for loved ones and acquaintances throughout the years, having done so professionally from the age of eight. Now it seems like a pastime at best.
Great suggestions. Appreciate the help. I’m flexible with other options, but I need something under $1,000. A Dark Hero or similar sounds perfect. Thanks again!
