This approach rarely works consistently, particularly since most reputable VPN services charge around $85-90 for three years. I still rely on Nord despite past issues because the threat was limited, but many alternatives are available if you want to avoid such risks. When using a free VPN, your information is being gathered and potentially sold or shared, which is standard for these services.
The story gets more intense. I’ll skip the cheap VPN options and stick with Nord, haha
I believe there was a server in Finland running management software that allowed access to it, but the information passing through the server was encrypted. That’s my current understanding. It seems like nothing is free—providers usually charge for services. They might either collect all your data or bombard you with ads. Probably both.
The main goal of a VPN is to protect your privacy. If it monetizes your data and browsing habits, the purpose becomes unclear.
