Hi all,
Searching for a flight sim that matches these requirements:
Single-player focus or mainly single-player experience. Multiplayer is fine as long as it's not too similar to the World of Planes freemium model. LAN play is acceptable.
Preferring a WW2 setting, WW1 is okay. Not interested in MS Flight Simulator or X-Plane—I don’t see much value in flying planes if you can’t shoot guns.
Want something more arcade-like than a full simulation—something fun rather than serious.
If it’s aimed at kids more than adults, that should be fine.
It doesn’t have to be the latest version; just needs to work on Windows 10 with ultra widescreen (3440x1440).
I tried Wings of Prey but it seems unsupported anymore. I thought it was a single-player game, but registration failed when I tried. So I deleted it.

Not all titles fit your requirements, but many do. I omitted games such as Superflight and Feather because they focus on aircraft rather than planes. SimplePlanes was left out too, as it doesn’t align with your criteria. You might want to explore them later—they’re decent options. Remember, avoid buying unless you’re near a significant discount. Don’t let sale prices mislead you.
So you're not after a flight sim. I recall some old flight sims I owned that included WWII missions—can't quite recall their names. Wings of Prey doesn't need an online connection. At least my DRM-free GOG version doesn't, and I don’t know about Steam. Those developers later created War Thunder, which is free to play. It mainly supports multiplayer, but it also has single-player missions and a mission editor, letting you pilot planes you haven’t unlocked for MP.
If you prefer space shooters, Freespace 2 is solid, and Rebel Galaxy Outlaw was released recently, focusing more on easy controller gameplay.
