Looking for a decent CPU under 65 watts?
I gained some insight into mining and realized I need very low tdp for my CPU because I plan to use the rig occasionally while wanting a decent processor. I also understood that overspending on the motherboard and CPU/RAM isn’t wise. Is the 10100f suitable for mining, or are there better options?
Search for a vintage low-end processor at a scrapyard or second-hand store. You could likely get it for around $20 to $30 if it's an older model.
For CPU mining, profitability mainly comes from AMD processors of the latest generation or newer. Other options are generally too costly. The most affordable chip has a low TDP, like the Ryzen 5 3600, but you’d likely earn less than a few cents daily given current electricity prices. A high-end threadripper or a 16-core Ryzen model becomes worthwhile if your main goal is financial gain.
yea I've got 5 6600xt's that I got for 425$ each so I was gon build a lil mining machine but I also wanna game on it and search the web a bit so honestly I think 10100f is a really good cpu for being 100$ + it's brand new, I mean what could go wrong? it supports a good amount of motherboards that are quite new but that also support 5 gpus at once so at the end of the day I think i3 10100f isn't a bad deal? yea it's 65 watts and not 50 or so but it'll probably be under 50 while my gpus are mining I'd assume? I really do not want an old cpu because oh I know old cpus very well and trust me they are not fun! Besides the 11th gen i3 will be able to sue windows 11 too while older models will not idk what do you guys think, is the 10100f a steal, is it a good deal? I mean it is in the top 100 cpus for just 100$ in a month of mining gpus should pay the cpu+motherboard+ram+hdd off
