I haven’t been following computer tech for the past two years.
I chose to upgrade to ddr5 and found these components, thinking after taxes I’d be under $550.
I realized this decision was influenced by recent sales, so I’m seeking some second opinions.
Estimated purchase date: within the next 1 to 3 days; if sales end, I might wait until Thanksgiving.
Budget range: $500-600.
Usage priority from highest to lowest: ddr5, Wi-Fi, one M.2, and SATA.
Country: US
Overclocking: no
Monitor resolution: 1920 x 1080 at 144 Hz
Edit:
CPU:
AMD Ryzen 7 7700X 4.5 GHz 8-Core Processor
RAM:
TEAMGROUP T-Create Expert 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR5-6000 CL30 Memory
Motherboard:
ASRock B650E PG RIPTIDE WIFI ATX AM5 Motherboard
Just looking at CPU, RAM, and motherboard.
Edit: Thanks for your feedback
I’m building for general use. I plan to experiment with 3D modeling, Unreal Engine/Blender, but my main focus is gaming.
Honestly, now felt like a suitable moment to upgrade.
I wanted to be able to use my USB-C port and my computer is slow when searching files or opening pictures.
Other replacement parts work well, but the ram should be similar in speed. For better performance, aim for a CL of 30 or 32 to get a faster and higher-quality ram.
For gaming performance, the 5700X3D matches the 7700X and often exceeds it.
You might opt for a CPU upgrade right away and hold off until the X870/B850 board with USB 4.0 support launches alongside the 9000X3D chips...
What we consider good is what works for us. A performance matching the 7700X at 180 bucks feels like a solid deal to me. But the final choice is yours. If you're willing to pay a little more, you can get the 7800X3D. I was in the same situation when I built my PC. I thought about the 7600 but ended up choosing the 7800X3D and have no regrets.
Sorry to explain over my 3700x it didn't seem like the 5700x3d was worth $180. Instead of upgrading, I thought about waiting longer—honestly, for gaming the 3700x hasn't been impressive. I enjoy multitasking and have many applications open. I'm planning to try some 3D software like Blender and Unreal Engine. Also, it might be slow to load files, possibly due to my RAM situation.
Do you consider views.com and user Benchmark to be reliable sources? That's where I form much of my opinion.
They focus solely on the numerical comparisons, ignoring qualitative aspects. Their analysis relies strictly on quantitative data without evaluating performance in context.
