Looking for a CPU cooler?
You might want to start your own build soon. The Dell from about 10-15 years ago still has its components intact. You can repurpose the hard drive and the CPU cooler works fine. Your plan to upgrade to a Ryzen 5 3700X or Ryzen 7 2700X is solid, and overclocking could be an option. Since you're new to this, don’t worry if it seems a bit risky—this is just your first time.
It seems you're discussing Intel and AMD cooling solutions. The current setup doesn't match a popular aftermarket cooler with an AM4 socket. Most modern AMD CPUs use their own built-in coolers, which generally offer superior thermal performance compared to older builds like the i3-2120. If you plan to overclock, upgrading to a higher-quality cooler would be necessary. I wouldn't recommend overclocking unless you're ready for a more advanced build later on.
it's not that old. about 10 years back it was the duo core era, which feels like around 8 years now. Edit: maybe I should add something else too. i only want the 2700x if I can get a great deal on it. I remember getting mine at half price during Black Friday sales. where i live they sold out everywhere. alternatively, if you're okay with gaming the 3600x, that's fine too—someone mentioned it's almost there. but honestly, there isn't an R5 3700x, that must be a typo. Edit2: I need a break from the forums again, think so. Anyway, including coolers with processors is definitely better than anything from back then. i'm even using the default one on my machine right now at stock.
