I'm preparing to swap out my Asus Z170k for the ROG STRIX Z490 and install the ROG STRIX Z490 H Gaming alongside my new i9 10900k. I'll still have the water cooling setup. The GTX 970 will be upgraded to a 3080ti. This Z170k motherboard recently got the newest BIOS and handled a 6700k overclock to 4.8 easily. The original BIOS had limited features and it's less than two years old, so it's not very useful. I'm based in Australia. Updated: September 14, 2020 by GNARLYBARD11

I'm using an i7-6700k right now, just like you. The motherboard is GA-Z170XP-SLI. The latest BIOS was updated in 2018 and it's still running smoothly as expected. I intend to upgrade soon.
