Looking for a compatible board for the i76700K?
I'm pretty sure this board is faulty—it feels like a bad omen. I need a more affordable option to get this old machine working again. It should be a temporary fix while I wait for Zen3. The one I've found so far is here: https://www.amazon.com/Asrock-Z270-SLI11...01N48AFA1/. Ideally, it would be something you can return if it turns out to be dead.
However, from a more serious perspective, I wasn't able to locate a compatible component to determine whether it was a CPU or a motherboard. This issue arose in March, and with the recent release of another generation, it's unlikely you'll find anything similar now. Edited September 14, 2020 by AndrewZScorpion Correction
I'm searching for an LGA1151 board that fits a 6th generation Intel processor. I recently saw one, but it costs more than I can afford for just a short time. I've bought Asus Z170 Pro Gaming twice before they failed, and I've also lost other machines due to hardware issues. This is the only option that has caused problems in the past.
Avoiding any overclocking because the Asus board failed a few months ago was my choice for safety. It seemed to last about three to four months. The power supply initially appeared to be the problem, but there have been other discussions about this issue. If you're curious, you can check those threads here. In short, it looks like a board failure is the main concern. Since all my previous machines ended up dying due to board issues, I'm hoping for something that will keep me running for a few months.
Setting up two fresh identical systems using 3080s and probably some Zen 3 chips in the $250 range would serve as a temporary fix. I’m considering taking the one linked because it’s easy to return if it doesn’t work, but I was also thinking about finding a more affordable option.
It seems the most affordable and sole option on Amazon is likely the top choice as well—they may offer the strongest return policy too!
