What is a budget motherboard suitable for an OC i7 7700k? Will overclocking be necessary? I mainly play triple A games.

So why did you ask if you really need to overclock, since you'll still do it regardless? If you're planning to boost performance, you should consider a model such as the Cryorig H1 Universal or a 240mm AIO instead of the Hyper 212.

Do you really need overclocking? No, it's not necessary for most people, and the stock 7700k can handle any AAA game without trouble. Still, if you own a 7700k, having a board that supports overclocking would be beneficial. Yet Overclocking and cost aren't always the ideal approach. For budget-friendly options, the ASUS Z270 Prime is a solid pick. Just ensure you invest in a quality cooler, such as the Cryorig H7, if you plan to go this route.

Overclocking is never necessary, you don’t have to push your CPU beyond its limits to achieve strong performance.
A motherboard that supports overclocking begins around $150 (you can locate cheaper options, but avoid a low-cost Z270 board due to its inadequate power delivery). If you choose not to overclock, H270 or B250 boards fall in the $80 range.

Cyorig is a solid air cooler, consider getting that instead.
For the motherboard, I recommend this one—it offers great overclocking potential and is very dependable.

Sure, but achieving around 4.8ghz with a Cryorug H7 and an AsRock Z270 Pro4 would be possible.
