For B450M Pro4 and B450M Mortar Max, the price range is quite narrow—DS3H indicates a specific maximum you can expect.

You might prefer the B550M DS3H, it’s compatible with Gen 3 Ryzen CPUs and likely to get Gen 4 support eventually. While I’m not familiar with it much, it’s a solid budget option. The B450M DS3H is a decent motherboard but I don’t have much info on the B550M DS3H.

Mortar max isn't in inventory anymore, but those who still have it have raised the cost about twice as much.

Thank you for the idea, but a friend with a 2.5Gbps DS3H connection is experiencing RAM issues in a dual-channel setup.

Are you sure your friend's RAM is placed correctly in the available slots?

I doubt the B450 DS3H will support Zen 3. Even if it did, it would only offer six cores on the board. The quality drop doesn't justify the price change. Right now, with available models, you might want to consider the B550M DS3H or a B450M Pro4 if it's cheaper.

The ds3h performs better. What do you think about the b450 pro 4m? Or should we consider the b550m pro 4 as well?

It's then the B550M DS3H.

Also tested dual channel connections. Verified RAM capacity on the motherboard; everything functions properly. Operates correctly only in single channel mode on his system.
