Looking for a budget-friendly high-speed router? Consider options that balance cost and performance.
I currently use gigabit internet via Comcast and have been working with a subpar modem/router. Over Ethernet, speeds are stable and fast, but Wi-Fi performance drops significantly—especially at distances or through obstacles. At 30 feet, I’m capped around 150Mbps with poor range and latency. I’m seeking a reliable Wi-Fi router offering gigabit speeds and decent coverage without breaking the bank. The NetGear Ac1750 is on my list, but I need alternatives that fit my budget. Could anyone suggest other options?
It’s unclear if any router can deliver that speed over a respectable distance. Even premium semi-pro models fall short: https://www.custompcreview.com/reviews/u...nt-review/. Considering this, reaching such performance with budget options appears unlikely. However, someone might have better insight. Edit: The Netgear you mentioned seems to underperform significantly: https://www.techgearlab.com/reviews/smal...50-r6700v2. The TP-link unit recommended earlier is the closest alternative, though it still lacks gigabit speeds and doesn’t address reliability or latency. The reality is that wired connections generally offer the fastest, most reliable, and most cost-effective experience, despite occasional challenges with cabling. Edited March 21, 2020 by Ryan_Vickers
