I currently own an outdated D-Link DSL-6740u router. It's been with me for seven years, but I need to upgrade it since it's no longer up to date. I'm looking for suggestions on suitable upgrades.

Wireless air conditioning is the basic choice. Asus and Netgear are typically recommended options.

Consider your ISP settings. You might be connected via a DSL router, meaning your new setup should also be DSL-based.

I bought the TP-Link AC1200 around a year ago and have never experienced any problems. It works well for VDSL connections, in my view.

You're experiencing a common issue with older internet connections—high speed but poor signal. To improve stability and connection quality, focus on these aspects when choosing a router: speed, compatibility with your DSL setup, coverage area, and ease of installation. Also consider features like built-in security, Wi-Fi range extension, and support for modern protocols.

You examined the setup, but it lacks an Ethernet WAN port. You’ll need a gateway—combining modem and router in one unit. DSL can be challenging since you must confirm compatibility with your specific type. I recommend visiting your ISP’s website to verify supported devices or follow their guidance on requirements.
