AMD verified that Zen 3 processors are compatible with B550 and X570 chips. If you're considering purchasing a board right now aimed at Zen 3, it might be wise to hold off a bit longer. It's conceivable that X670 could become a viable option.

Update the BIOS is required; you must have a 3rd generation model now or wait for the 4th generation release with new BIOS updates.

The B550 is built for Ryzen 7000 series chips, not the 3rd generation. It was designed for the latest processors.
