Looking at i9-10900KF again
Certainly worth thinking about. I probably won’t pick this tough cooling section again. In fact, I favor large air coolers.
we should aim for better performance or reduce the overclocking. 100mhz can really help if we have the right vcore and cooling, I’ve pushed it to its optimal point. There’s always a threshold where Vcore must jump more after a certain level. My 8700k handles 1.25v nonavx stable at 5GHz, and before 5GHz you need a 0.04v boost, after that it’s 0.06v. Nowadays it’s nearly impossible to keep AVX stable for gaming since many games crash at around 1.29v—
I'm just going through the motions, picking what feels easiest. The 360/420/large air cooler works, but the last AIO failed after three years—nothing new here. Drp4 barely covers the 5950x/10900k specs, so it's a compromise. I often wonder about the extra 100MHz that could help.
