Hi everyone, the fibre connection was recently installed and now my speeds have jumped from 80mb/s to just over a gigabit (though they initially promised 900mb/s). The router is positioned well for Wi-Fi but poses some challenges for Ethernet directly. I’m currently using an Asus USB AC68 AC1900 adapter, which delivers 270-300mb/s on my desktop—definitely solid. Some laptops and phones are getting noticeably faster. TL;DR: consider a better WiFi adapter to fully utilize the speed. Regarding your router, it seems capable of Wi-Fi 6 for home use with no issues, so it’s probably not something to worry about unless you notice performance drops.

WiFi 6 typically delivers about 100Mbit compared to WiFi 5, but it's mainly built for sharing bandwidth among several devices rather than focusing on ultra-fast speeds for one at a time. You can approach Gigabit performance as long as your downloads are handled in parallel. For best results, use an adapter with the Intel AX210 chipset. If possible, position the antenna away from the PC backside—especially if the router is behind the machine, as that will weaken the signal.
