I need to purchase another router, but the issue is that all the consumer routers I checked don’t include an Optic Fiber SC port. My home’s internet setup uses Optic Fiber with a SC connector, so there’s no option to connect routers with Ethernet ports. Appreciate any assistance you can provide.

All the ports on your wall are likely optical SC. Or maybe you're just referencing your ISP while others in the house use CAT5e, 6, 7 etc. If that's the case, a media converter like this one works: https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B003CFA...le_o08_s00 And pair it with an SFP adapter here: https://www.amazon.ca/Ubiquiti-Instant-P...ics&sr=1-4 If you wanted a single solution, this option is available: https://www.amazon.ca/UBIQUITI-ER-X-SFP-...ics&sr=1-4

It seems like you're questioning the choice of a high-end router with advanced features. Could you clarify your reasoning for selecting this setup over standard Ethernet?

Yes, this would function. Just remember to use a router and SFP adapters for your SC connectors: https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/sw...model.html

I accepted the offer because there was no internet wiring in the house. I’m using the router my ISP provided—it’s actually quite solid (a 3x3 Wi-Fi router with a 4x4 PCI-E card works well). The main issue is that I’ll need to run a very long Ethernet cable from the router to the switch.

You're asking if there aren't any SC ports available and whether you might be connecting via Wi-Fi instead of a physical port. It seems you're wondering about the setup given the fiber connection and router details.

I also have SC ports on the wall. However, I'll connect via a wired link to the new router for setting up a local server.

I don't have a router, but I can help you with information about routers or guide you through setting one up. What do you need assistance with?
