CustomPartsForPcs offers paid options, but my experience has been inconsistent at best. I rely on VLC Player for all my media needs. The main problem is it doesn’t natively support playing Blu-ray discs. A small modification can be made to VLC to resolve this issue. You’ll find the download link and a guide here.

The guide is specifically for Windows 8, so it may not work with Windows 7.

It shouldn't affect anything. When talking about the application folder, such as c:\program files (x86), it seems to be working on Windows 7. The comments at the bottom confirm this, but there are some changes you'll need to make that aren't mentioned here.

You have downloaded the KEYDB configuration file for VLC. You can use it to customize and manage your VLC settings, such as language preferences, audio profiles, and other user-defined options.

I just tried it and it didn’t work for me. It seems to function differently depending on users. I found a YouTube tutorial that walks through the steps, using the links you shared. How to turn VLC on to play Blu-ray files in Windows? I hope this helps. If it doesn’t work, I’ll apologize ahead of time. There are some paid programs you might want to consider (they offer a 30-day trial). PowerDVD and WinDVD are examples I’ve used before; they weren’t ideal, but the trial period is a plus.

I just figured out how to make VLC treat Bluray files correctly. After installing the mod in the right folder, follow the instructions on the YouTube video. Then perform the two steps shown in the images to load the Bluray properly.

Yes, you can use the 64-bit version instead of the 32-bit one on Windows 64-bit.

The 32-bit player functions perfectly on 64-bit systems, which is the version I use. The 32-bit release is the official "Stable" build. The 64-bit edition is an "Experimental" variant and might be less reliable. I recommend sticking with the 32-bit. When looking up the VLC folder, it should appear at "C:\Program Files (x86)\VideoLAN\VLC".
