Searching for a compatible R6 3600 motherboard without needing a BIOS upgrade, while avoiding the high cost of an X570.

A 3000-ready Max board will continue requiring a BIOS upgrade soon because of the recent Zen 2 release. Consider getting an MSI B450-A Pro (Max). Changing the BIOS using the flashback feature is quite simple.

MAX indicates that the stock bios have native support for the 3000 series just like on the X570. Zen2 has been available for some time now. Still, you're right about bios flashback being straightforward. The non-max board isn't significantly cheaper, though it's worth noting the MAX chip is twice as large and includes more in-bios features with a more stable implementation. I’d likely pay a bit more for it and skip worrying about using bios flashback.

The flashback button on compatible MSI motherboards indicates this process: you don’t need a CPU or RAM on the board itself—just power from your power supply. You place the BIOS file on a USB drive, label it according to their instructions, and ensure the drive is formatted with FAT32. Then connect the USB port on the rear IO area of the motherboard and press the "flashback button." The motherboard retrieves the file and updates the BIOS automatically. After completing the update, install your third-generation Ryzen CPU and your system will start working smoothly.

I understand the timeline, I purchased mine on launch day and my bios remains Pre-ABBA since it functions flawlessly with no need for updates. It seems like a logical chance to fix the bios for issues similar to Destiny 2 again. I anticipate within the next six months there will be a meaningful improvement in the next BIOS release.

I purchased an Asus B450M TUF for $87 CAD during the Boxing week promotions at a nearby computer store. I was taken aback by the presence of an "AMD Ryzen 3000 desktop ready" label, though other B450 models they offered also came with Ryzen 3000 support. It seems likely the shop installed all the BIOS and upgraded to an early Ryzen 3000 version that could work across different generations if the manufacturer had a consistent BIOS update strategy.
