I've just acquired an i7-6700K with a 4.7GHz clock at 1.370V stable in P95. The P95 temperatures during most of the Blend test are high in the 50s to mid-70s, occasionally reaching 80. For regular use, I haven't noticed temperatures exceeding 65. Is this a secure overclock for extended periods?

I usually prefer a concentration of 1.35 or lower, but it's secure for extended periods.

Stay below or match 1.25 core voltage on Skylake CPU, unless you plan to upgrade soon.

Ne0Wolf7 :
You want to stay under or at 1.25 core voltage on skylake CPU, unless you're going to get another one real soon.
Ok. Why does the motherboard matter? I have seen 1.35v-1.4v as a safe long term voltage in most other places that the 6700k has been discussed, and there was no mention of the motherboards used.

I think it's correct, but the motherboard plays a big role in the quality and quantity of MOFSETs. These components handle the 12V from the rail and adjust it to match your CPU's requirements. Poor quality can lead to failure in extreme cases, while high-quality ones ensure stability and longevity. Good quality means you're safe.
