LoL random frame drops?
I chose to give LoL a shot and what seems strange is that sometimes my FPS would drop into the 40s before returning to a stable 60. Is this related to the game itself or my own setup? The temperatures are normal and other titles seem fine. At least I haven’t seen frame drops in them. When I play Shogun 2 with my friend, we experience stuttering with big unit sizes, but I attribute that to his older Athlon rather than my hardware or the game.
Could be cpu, what are specs and temperatures. And clock speeds are they constant or do they drop under load.
The specifications are clear—temperatures stay below 45°C on the GPU and 40°C on the CPU. It’s performing well, but I suspect the issue is with Skype interfering. Some users report frame drops and slow downloads when Skype is active, especially under heavy load. Closing the app resolves the problem, dropping to about 1.2k kb/s. It might be related to port 80 handling.
I used it because of the tearing. (300 fps has an effect.) I changed the FPS to unlimited (which caused a problem in Witcher 3) and enabled Vsync. Likely that's why.
Really uncertain, usually the internet slows down frame rates but I'm not sure. If you have an i5 and a 280, you should be seeing around 60 FPS easily.
Reducing the frame rate to 80fps makes the tears almost invisible
It was configured for infinite with vsych off and tearing was extremely bad. Not sure, I'll try again. Still, optimizing for LoL really comes second to Dota 2 in my mind. I've never faced problems keeping a solid 60 on an old Athlon II and 6850.
LoL works efficiently on all systems, but VSync causes performance issues and can lead to screen tearing. You can disable VSync and set a FPS cap. Adjust the cap to 80 frames per second for smoother gameplay without lag.
If Vsync isn't functioning properly, it counts as a loss in optimization. I haven't noticed any game adjusting its FPS based on Vsync settings before.
