Logs from issues regarding the new laptop
I'm just installing my new lenovo laptop and the lenovo app suggested a BIOS update (can't remember what it was). After rebooting, I can't enter the pin and it prompts me to set up a new one. It says it's sending a code to my very old Hotmail account. Although I haven't used Hotmail much in years, I've tried Outlook and it works fine when sending emails from my Gmail account. But I'm still not getting the code needed to log into the laptop. What should I do next? Lenovo isn't helping much until Monday. Thanks for any assistance.
I've attempted fixes and a reset, but everything still returns to the original issue. The only solution I can think of is a full reinstall. I haven't done this in years and I'm unsure how to proceed, especially regarding its impact on the laptop—will it lose all the installed software? Also, it mentions sending a code to my Hotmail account, but I don’t understand why that’s happening.
I received a Lenovo laptop during the COVID lockdown, so I’m not sure if the login method has changed. You should be able to select between entering a PIN or using a password, and the one you use for the email account when setting up a Microsoft account shouldn’t matter if the email is no longer active—only the correct password is needed. After logging in, go to the desktop and navigate to the login options; there should be an option to check a box so you don’t have to re-enter your credentials.
In the startup menu, locate your Lenovo folder and find a program named Vantage. It functions similarly to Windows Update, scanning your laptop for outdated software. This tool is tailored specifically for Lenovo products.
I've had it running at the start with a few reboots all ok. I then went to the lenovo app and updated as recommended then no way to log in . It mentions the pin problem as above but no code is sent to hotmail (outlook) . I tried all sorts of repair things and still always goes back to the same issue.
