Logitech Z906 ceased functioning following a popping noise.
Hey, I just moved to a new place and haven’t installed the rear speakers yet. (I’ve had those speakers for almost a year and really liked them.) I set up the front speakers, connected them to the main unit, linked the control unit, plugged in power, and connected my PC. I thought I could use it like a stereo system right away. But soon after, I heard a pop—probably from the subwoofer—and noticed a rubbery smell (possibly burnt). I tried turning it on, but it didn’t work. That’s concerning. Was there an issue with plugging in without the rear speakers? Could a capacitor have blown? Also, I feel like there’s some electrical charge on the back screws, causing a slight tingling sensation. I tried unplugging power and the control unit, then reconnecting them, but nothing changed. Finally, I unplugged everything again. Can you help me figure out what happened and how to fix it?
The power supply probably failed. It isn't related to unplugging speakers. There seems to be a grounding problem—you shouldn’t experience any tingling. Verify your power outlet has correct grounding. Lack of a proper connection can lead to electronic failure.
It lacks a ground connection on the plug—it’s one of those slim models that don’t have a grounding feature.
