That's correct, the problem consistently arises from developers not implementing features properly. In the context of Talos Principle settings, missing options usually stem from developer oversight. The accidental jump you mention often requires multiple clicks or a prolonged press to trigger functions.

If it involves just a handful of lines of code, they’d need to be very careless. I’m not a coder. Still, I tried it on Jerry’s Twitter to check if I was dreaming about unicorns and rainbows. He was pretty open-minded at first but mentioned he wasn’t in the Xbox team anymore (probably after being fired). I don’t see many situations where such an API would really shine. For instance, in Shadow of Mordor and Sleeping Dogs, certain abilities are tied to one button. Having them separated into different functions would be a plus. There are also moments when a game needs a modifier press before another action. Given that keyboards have multiple keys, this choice always confuses me. In Metal Gear Solid V, there are two distinct keys for aiming—hold one for the reticle and tap another for the weapon sight. It would’ve been simpler to have a single dot appear in the center of the screen when a weapon is holstered or unarmed, turning it into a reticle when switching to a weapon. A more flexible system could help fix some of the really bad design choices I’ve seen.

some titles include fixed key combinations tied to particular text styles, matching the effort needed for keyboard layouts. certain developers push for extreme precision, even demanding a baseball bat for the job.

Microsoft has added software for fully reprogramming buttons with the Elite controller. It’s unclear if this feature is unique to that device. Perhaps I’m overcomplicating things. Still, it would be a strong incentive to choose a PC over a console if Nvidia and AMD implemented similar changes. Such customization could greatly benefit developers and make the system incredibly adaptable. Given Ansel’s complexity, Nvidia certainly has the capability. To stop cheating in multiplayer, developers might restrict features like aim assistance or macro shortcuts. In Mortal Kombat, for example, a player struggling with Fatalities could use a Nvidia-enabled macro tied to one key—acceptable solo play but not permitted in competitive matches.
