Logitech G600 side buttons sometimes don't work properly.
I encountered problems with certain buttons on my Logitech G600 mouse. They don’t respond unless I keep pressing or use a particular method, and once I stop doing that, they become unresponsive. Most advice for fixing mice seems to target click issues on the left and right sides, so it’s unclear what steps would help here.
Well, possibly the interior is too grim that it interferes with the switch or the contact area of the button. Or the switch itself might be deteriorating. It’s more likely the latter. Repairing this involves taking it apart. You’ll likely need replacement switches. Edit : Looked up online and found it uses a membrane layer for the side button. It could be the rubber dome is dirty or wearing out from use. The side switches are typically metal domes rated for around 5 million clicks.
Start by following @Deeya's advice—it's a gentle approach. If you need to remove it, have a spare mouse foot ready (unless you're very skilled at detaching it). Wipe the side PCB with a quality contact cleaner and let it dry thoroughly afterward. Inspect the bottom side of the PCB for any damaged solder joints. Remove and wash the membrane layer if possible; otherwise, use a lint-free cloth to clean it. Ensure no water spots remain before reinserting. Check for any tears in the layer and test each one for signs of wear. If issues continue, it's likely the switches themselves are faulty. It might also be a sign that both the switch and the layer are worn out. It looks like Logitech opted for a cheaper metal dome instead of a standard micro switch or tactile switch. I can spot a $15 AliExpress obscure brand mouse with dual-sided buttons using a standard micro switch in my cupboard—funny how it works!
They had a much better build before. The launch version really feels more upscale when you hold it. I’ve gotten used to the G Shift modifier on my ring finger, which makes other cool mods really tricky, particularly in MMOs.
I get that perspective. I became really skilled at soldering because of Rival 500. It actually helped me learn a lot about metal dome switches for MMO mice... the designer probably never played an MMO raid before and thought it takes just five clicks per session.
You're experiencing issues with ghub again, and you're considering cleaning it up to check if everything is working properly.
