You're interested in diving into retro gaming with Batocera Linux and the Logitech F310. It seems to lack a select button, but features a back button instead. I'm curious if it can be set up as a select or hotkey in Batocera. Also, do you have any experience with this controller? Amazon reviews are very favorable—have you tried it before? What are your impressions?
It’s a plain Logitech controller. It works fine and does better than the dual shock alternatives. The back button will act as a select key in emulators, though you can reassign it in Logitech Gaming Software on Windows. Updated July 11, 2021 by SorryClaire It’s all about the windows only.
Well, actually, using the Xbox Series X/S controller seems much better than the F310. My F310 stopped working (it was just the dongle) and now it feels like a heavy paperweight. After almost two years, the rubber got sticky, and the vibration is weak. The latency and response are too stiff. Your budget might be a limitation, but I’d definitely suggest the Xbox Series X/S if you could afford it. Xbox supports Bluetooth, a dedicated wireless dongle, or a cable—so you can switch if needed. For desktops, I used a cable; a cheap USB-C to USB-A cable with USB 2.0 support works fine.
