I understand, I’m not entirely clear on the subject, so I thought this would be the right direction. I own a Logitech Brio that streams and records in 4K at 30 FPS, along with a 1440p monitor. When I stream via Streamlabs, everything shows up at 1920x1080 because Twitch limits to 1080p at 60fps. I manually adjust the Logitech Brio in Streamlabs to 3840x2160, switching it to “Face Cam” during gameplay and keeping it at full resolution when needed. I assume Twitch downscales the video to 1080p, which still looks sharp. Now I want to record directly in Logitech Brio using OBS Studio, set it to 3840x2160, and only capture in 1080p. Would that be feasible? I’m curious if my files would remain large even though the display and output are set to 1080p. Thank you for your help.

In OBS you configure both your output resolution and the source resolution as.

No, it won't work like that. The Logitech Brio can only display 3840x2160 at 1080p, not 4k. You can't set your webcam to 4k while keeping the main recording at 1080p. The webcam and display settings are independent, so you can't have one at 4k and the other at 1080p simultaneously. It sounds confusing, but the hardware limits you here.

Absolutely, just as you do now, adjust OBS to a 1920x1080 display, set your webcam to 3840x2160, and apply Fit to Screen on the webcam feed. Changing the webcam resolution might lower processing demands and could potentially yield a clearer image, so it’s worth testing and comparing results.
