Pmed will request your passcode instead of a pin upon startup, and once the screen is locked you can enter the PIN, though it’s not a complete solution.

When you enable a password, it will prompt for the pin during startup.

Usually when I sign in, it prompts for a PASSWORD. If I click, I can pick between PASS and PIN, so it doesn’t require a PIN by default without the extra step. Almost there.

The system prompts for a password on the first reboot, but after that it uses PIN as the default. You can still pick a password separately and keep it active as an alternative option.
